CSA 1, 5¢ green, 3 margins, tied blue grid with matching RALEIGH N.C. FEB 8 1862 double-circle postmark on brown paper cover to Rev. A.B. Cox, Chaplain 12th Regt. N.C. Vols., Jefferson, Ashe Co. No. Ca. Ex Ken Whittle and Ralph Swap. $275.
Aras Bishop Cox served in both the 12th Regiment North Carolina Volunteers as chaplain, in Field & Staff of NC 22nd Infantry, and Co. I, NC 61st Infantry. He resigned due to disability December 27, 1862, due to pulmonary disease and general bad health.
