CSA 12a (AD), 10¢ milky blue OVERHEATED PLATE VARIETY (4 lovely margins, bit of gum staining) tied WYTHEVILLE / VA. // DEC / 27 (1863) on cover to Col. Jno McCauley, Supt. S.W. Telegraph, Salem, Va. with docketing up left side “John H. Allen, Wytheville, Va Dec 26, 1863.” This is the SECOND USE OF A TWICE-USED ADVERSITY COVER to Col. Jno. McCauley. The original, with a penciled address, was a Soldier's Due “10" use with the first address completely erased. The handstamped "10" is just visible below the bottom margin of the stamp. An extremely cool twice-used adversity cover! $325.
