CSA #2e, 10¢ light blue Stone Y (4 margins) tied blue HOWARDSVILLE / VA. on turned cover to Mayo Cabell Esq., Tye River W[are] House, Nelson[County Va] with docketing up left side “Wm A Turner Statement Ed Burgess, Bonds injustice Buckingham Court December 1862; inside use with manuscript “Hardwicksville Va / Sept 12th / 63” postmark but no rate or other postal markings addressed to Mrs. Sarah Barton, Lexington, Virginia; flap tear at bottom extending slightly to front; Ex Thacker [VA] $400.
Mayo Cabell (1800-1869) was a wealthy owner of multiple estates and a successful businessman who ran a store at Tye River Warehouse with boats and a freight business on the cancel as well as sawmills.
