Judge Samuel Jackson Bolling (1816-1891) was born in Greenville, S.C. but moved to Alabama in 1819. He was elected County Judge before he was 21 years old and was later judge of probate. He was a member of the 1861 Secession convention in 1861, as well as the Constitutional Convention. He was one of the largest property owners in the region. The community of Bolling, Alabama, is believed to have been name for him.
