George Douglas Wise (1831–1908) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia and nephew of Henry Alexander Wise (1806-1876), an American lawyer and politician, U.S. Minister to Brazil under Tyler (1844-47), Governor of Virginia (1856-60, he signed the death warrant of John Brown), and a general in the Confederate Army (1861-65)
