Witcher, Echols Artillery, Tallahassee, Florida.” Inside Use: CSA 11, 10¢ blue (4 margins) used with Point Peter, Ga. July 18th ms. postmark, to B.H. Witcher, Co. K ,6th Regt Ga. Vols, Colquitt’s Brigade, Hick’s Division, Petersburg, Va. Top and bottom flaps of second use have pencil endorsements of B.H. Witcher, 6th Geo Volunteers and Mr. Jno. Heare, Race Track, Petersburg, Va. Ex Briggs with pencil note on verso only “2 known.” (Tallahassee). Nifty and clean turned use with heavy military markings. $375.

C.M. Witcher served as a corporal with 22nd Siege Georgia Heavy Artillery. Benjamin H. Witcher enlisted as a private Co. D, 35 Regt. Ga. Infantry employed as a nurse at General Hospital in Richmond, but rose to Sergt. Major (1864) in Co. K, Georgia 6th Infantry. He was wounded 18 March 1865 in Bentonville, N.C.
