FRANKLIN DEPOT / Va. // MAR / 9 / 1863 blue cds with matching DUE 10 (Type B, CCV $300) on cover to Hugh G. Windham, Fairfield, Pickens County, Alabama, with mandated endorsement “Privet (sic) in Company (F) 11th Regt Miss Vols.” Ex Roger Ballard. $250.
Private Thomas K. Windham, Co. F, 11th Mississippi (Noxubee Rifles) entered as a student 26 April 1861 at Resaca, Miss. Shows as having Rubeola (measles) 28 June 1862 and admitted to Chimborazo Hospital No. 3 in Richmond. Shows a gunshot wound 2 July 1862 in an engagement near Richmond, appears on register in CSA General Hospital at Danville and released 9 July 1862. That was a bad month or so! Transferred to Farmville 10 July 1862. Discharged at Goldsboro N.C. January 1865.
