ARRINGTON / VA // OCT 28 [1861] cds with matching handstamped PAID and ms. “5” (CSA Catalog Type A) on small narrow commercially made envelope to Dr. Geo. T. Harrison, Asst. Surgeon P.A.C.S, 24th Regt. V[a] Vol., Manassas Station, Va. Ex Brandon. $225.

Dr. George T. Harrison (1835-1925) was born University of Virginia and subsequently obtained both his MA and MD (1856) degrees from UVA. He was appointed Asst. Surgeon Va. Volunteers Forces 5-22-61 and Assistant Surgeon in Field & Staff of the 24th Virginia Infantry 6-1-61. He was listed as missing 5-5-62 after the action at Williamsburg. On 2-2-63 he passed the board for the position of Surgeon with the Army and report to Gen. G.E. Pickett’s Division, confirmed by the Senate 8-10-63 to rank from 1-12-63. Numerous other entries on extensive medical military record included courtesy Dr. F. T. Hambrect, with input from Diane Inman and Bob Krick. From the Hambrecht and J.L.
